Highly reactive spheroidal milled aluminum

چکیده
Mechanical milling of aluminum powders with two immiscible liquids, acetonitrile and hexane, produced roughly spherical particles increased flowability sizes in the range tens to hundreds microns specific surface areas 15 – 30 m2/g. The near shapes comprised agglomerated flakes. Samples were milled from 0.5 2 hours a planetary mill. Longer times led reduced sizes, while porosity area peaked at intermediate times. Thermal analysis showed that samples heated an oxidizing environment oxidized faster than nonporous micron-size aluminum, oxidation rates comparable those nanopowders. active content these was micron-sized aluminum. Reaction steps respective activation energies consistent other powders. However, unlike regular spheroidal placed on electrically 3500 K/s ignited temperatures ranging 750 900°C. Ignition decreased longer decreasing particle size. In low-temperature, humid environments, lost about half compared reference Al aged under identical conditions. Heterogeneous reactions prepared are interpreted using model comprising reactive shell inert core.

Highly mixed phases in ball-milled Cu/ZnO catalysts: an EXAFS and XANES study.
New highly mixed phases have been identified in Cu/ZnO systems by EXAFS and XANES at both the Cu and Zn K-edge. The phases were generated by ball-milling Cu(2)O/ZnO mixtures under three different atmospheres of synthetic air (SA), SA + CO(2) and CO(2). The system milled in CO(2) shows disproportionation of Cu(2)O into Cu(0), Cu(1+) (cuprite Cu(2)O-type phase) and Cu(2+) (tenorite CuO-type phase...
متن کاملParametrization of a reactive force field for aluminum hydride.
A reactive force field, REAXFF, for aluminum hydride has been developed based on density functional theory (DFT) derived data. REAXFF(AlH(3)) is used to study the dynamics governing hydrogen desorption in AlH(3). During the abstraction process of surface molecular hydrogen charge transfer is found to be well described by REAXFF(AlH(3)). Results on heat of desorption versus cluster size show tha...
متن کاملCombining Learned and Highly-Reactive Management
Learned models of behavior have the disadvantage that they must be retrained after any change in system configuration. Autonomic management methods based upon learned models lose effectiveness during the retraining period. We propose a hybrid approach to autonomic resource management that combines management based upon learned models with “highly-reactive” management that does not depend upon l...
متن کاملResolving Conflicts in Highly Reactive Teams
In distributed cooperation frameworks for completely autonomous agents, conflicts between the involved agents can occur due to inconsistent data available to the agents. In highly dynamic domains, such as RoboCup, it is often neccessary to accept a certain level of conflicts in order to decrease reaction time of single agents, instead of relying on error-free, but extensive communication. Howev...
متن کاملHighly reactive cysteine residues in rodent hemoglobins.
Two hemoglobins with cysteine residues highly reactive toward electrophiles have been identified and characterized. Cys-125beta of guinea pig hemoglobin has a low pK(a) and forms conjugates with electrophiles more quickly than glutathione and several orders of magnitude more quickly than other protein thiols. This cysteine is capable of intercepting benzoquinone, a known carcinogenic metabolite...
